Black And Conservative: Or Just Turncoats?

Black conservatives have come under fire in this historic presidential election largely because for the first time a major party has nominated an African-American.

They’ve been second guessed all year about how they’re going to vote and the role their race is playing in helping them make up their minds.

James T. Harris and John Martin, who are black and conservative, discuss the matter as well as backlash received for their political choices.

Harris hosts the radio program The National Conversation with James T. Harris in Milwaukee. He came into the spotlight after begging Sen. John McCain, the Republican nominee for president, to “take it to (Sen. Barack) Obama,” the Democratic rival. Harris’ comments were made at a McCain rally that was televised, causing him widespread criticism.
